Review of key Mediterranean wetlands

In the historic town of Tipaza (Algeria), with its famous Roman archaeological site, the Mediterranean Wetlands Committee held its sixth meeting. A special session was devoted to the cultural values of sites. Med-INA, presented the results of a preliminary survey of wetlands in the region and agreement was reached on further analysis of the situation, as cultural heritage is rapidly lost under development and population pressures. The final results will be presented to the Ninth Conference of the Contracting Parties of the Convention on Wetlands (Kampala, Uganda, November 2005). In addition, SEHUMED explained the data sheets it is developing for the inventory of cultural heritage in wetlands.
